Health Ministry Lifts Boiling Water Advisory for Karmiel

The Israeli Ministry of Health announced on Friday the complete cancellation of the advisory to boil water in the northern city of Karmiel. This decision follows the confirmation that water sampling results conducted in the city have returned as normal. The ministry stated that water across all parts of Karmiel is now safe for drinking and all other uses.

The advisory had been in place since Tuesday, when routine tests revealed an anomaly in the drinking water quality. Initially, residents were instructed to boil tap water before consumption, cooking, preparing medicine, and brushing their teeth, while use for bathing and sanitary purposes was permitted without boiling. The Ministry of Health convened city officials, the Ein Karmiel water corporation, and professional staff to address the issue.

The city provided drinking water for kindergartens while the water authority and corporation conducted repeat sampling and implemented corrective actions. On Thursday, results from most sampling points were found to be satisfactory, leading to the restriction being narrowed to specific areas, including the industrial zone and parts of the Founders and Southern neighborhoods, as well as several public buildings. By Friday, with all remaining test results confirming the water's safety, the Ministry of Health declared the advisory fully lifted.
