Jaffa Man Indicted for Murder Using Car Bomb in Holon

A 34-year-old resident of Jaffa, Ghazi Ashkar, has been indicted for the murder of Mustafa Abu Lisan in Holon this past June. The prosecution stated that Ashkar, along with accomplices, planned and executed the killing by attaching an explosive device to the victim's car. The indictment details that Ashkar and others identified and tracked Abu Lisan, a young man known to police, before detonating the bomb and causing his death.

Ashkar faces charges including aggravated murder in concert, conspiracy to commit a crime, altering a vehicle's identity, and obstruction of justice. The indictment further alleges that the group decided to kill Abu Lisan by exploding his vehicle with a bomb. Ashkar and his associates reportedly attached a tracking device and the explosive to Abu Lisan's car.

The detonation occurred when Abu Lisan parked his car at a gas station in Holon, resulting in his death and significant damage to seven other vehicles, two of which were completely destroyed. Following the murder, Ashkar allegedly handed over the vehicle used in the crime to a car dealer, instructing him to destroy the license plates.

The prosecution has requested that Ashkar be held in custody until the end of legal proceedings, citing the premeditated nature of the crime, the acquisition of the explosive device, and the use of duplicate license plates to facilitate the murder and escape. The indictment emphasizes that the murder took place in a busy, public area near a gas station during the day, with a powerful explosive device posing a real danger to bystanders.
