Israel and Kuwait Reportedly in Secret Talks for Regional Cooperation

Israel and Kuwait are reportedly engaged in discreet discussions concerning potential regional cooperation, according to a report by Kan on Thursday evening, citing a source familiar with the talks. These contacts come amid ongoing Iranian attacks targeting the Gulf emirate. A former Kuwaiti minister confirmed to Kan the interest in security cooperation between Israel and Gulf states, stating it would be a "win-win situation" for Gulf countries to collaborate with Israel to counter shared adversaries and ensure their security and stability.

The former official suggested that recent Iranian actions have significantly altered the regional threat perception, making it clear that Iran is a common enemy. He highlighted that Iran continues to attack Gulf states, while Israel targets military capabilities within Iran that could be used against neighboring countries.

These discussions follow recent remarks by Israel's Ambassador to the UAE, Yossi Shelley, who indicated that another country might join the Abraham Accords in the coming months, speculating that Kuwait could be next. Shelley's comments, made close to Benjamin Netanyahu, generated considerable reaction in Kuwait, a nation that officially maintains a hostile stance toward Israel. Kan's report did not specify the level of the current contacts or the likelihood of them leading to a normalization process.
