Hostage Survivor Bar Kupferstein Leads Gratitude and Forgiveness Event

Bar Kupferstein, a former hostage held by Hamas, led a special "gratitude and forgiveness" event in Tel Aviv's Hostages Square to mark one year since his return home. The event brought together other former hostages, families of fallen hostages, and bereaved families to express thanks to the Israeli public for their prayers and efforts during the captives' ordeal.

Kupferstein, who was held for two years, delivered a heartfelt speech recalling the profound faith and hope that sustained him and his fellow captives in the tunnels. He emphasized that the knowledge of the public's ongoing struggle for their release was a crucial source of strength. "You lit it up for us," he told the crowd, acknowledging their weekly protests, prayers, and unwavering support that kept hope alive until their return.

The evening also featured a live broadcast from the Western Wall, connecting the Hostages Square with former hostages and family members of those who were killed in captivity. Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, the Rabbi of the Western Wall, led a prayer of thanksgiving. Kupferstein extended his gratitude to the IDF soldiers and security forces for their sacrifices and to the wounded soldiers still recovering from the war.

He dedicated the event to those who did not return alive, sharing in the grief of their families. Kupferstein also reflected on the meaning of Yom Kippur and forgiveness in the wake of their experiences, urging the public to maintain the sense of solidarity and mutual responsibility that emerged during the crisis. The event concluded with prayers for the safety of soldiers, the recovery of the wounded, and the unity of Israel.
