Red Star Belgrade president Zeljko Drzlic responded to reports that Hapoel Tel Aviv is pushing hard to sign Jordan Nwora, saying the Serbian club has received multiple calls but will not sell him. In a brief statement to Meridian Sport, he said, "Yes, many teams have called about Nwora, but from our perspective he is not for sale."
According to the report, Hapoel Tel Aviv has already told the player’s agent it is ready to pay Red Star compensation of at least $1 million. Red Star also holds an option to extend Nwora’s contract for another season, and the club intends to activate it.
Nwora, a swingman, has posted the best European season of his career in the current EuroLeague campaign, averaging 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 54.9% on two-pointers, 35.6% from three and 80.6% from the free-throw line, finishing sixth in the league scoring race this season.
The 45th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Nwora spent 219 games in the NBA with Milwaukee, Indiana and Toronto. He moved to Europe for the first time in the 2024/25 season, signing with Anadolu Efes, but struggled there and averaged 7.6 points in 16:49 minutes per EuroLeague game. This season, however, he has become one of the EuroLeague’s most in-demand players heading into the summer.
