Red Star Belgrade president Željko Drčelić responded to reports that Hapoel Tel Aviv is aggressively pursuing Jordan Nwora, saying the player is not on the market. Speaking to Meridian Sport after the report appeared on Sport Channel, he said, "Yes, many teams have called about Nwora, but for us he is not for sale."
According to the report, Hapoel Tel Aviv has told the player’s agent it is prepared to pay Red Star at least $1 million in compensation. Nwora’s contract includes an option for another season, and Red Star intends to activate it.
Nwora, a 2020 draft pick selected 45th overall, has spent time in the NBA with Milwaukee, Indiana and Toronto, appearing in 219 games. He reached Europe for the first time in the 2024/2025 season with Anadolu Efes, but struggled there and averaged 7.6 points in 16:49 minutes per game in EuroLeague play.
This season, however, the swingman broke out at Red Star and became one of EuroLeague’s top scorers. He averaged 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game, shooting 54.9% on two-pointers, 35.6% from three and 80.6% from the free-throw line. He finished sixth in the league’s scoring race, making him one of the summer’s most sought-after names.
