Orthodox Party Rules Out Supporting Government Led by Gadi Eisenkot

Meir Porush, a Member of Knesset for the United Torah Judaism party, has stated that his faction will not support a government led by Gadi Eisenkot. Porush cited the Lubavitcher Rebbe's stance against any political formation willing to negotiate the return of territories. Speaking at the "Ose Shalom" conference in Kfar Chabad, Porush read from a letter attributed to the Rebbe, which he claimed contained handwritten annotations. The letter reportedly states, "It is forbidden to support a party that negotiates with Arabs over the return of territories of our Holy Land." Porush argued that even considering negotiations that could lead to the return of land in Judea and Samaria or the Gaza Strip poses a risk to human lives. He emphasized that this position has not changed and concluded that any party pursuing such a policy should not be able to form a government, nor expect support from Orthodox parties adhering to these directives. These remarks come amid the ongoing election campaign for the October 27 legislative elections, with potential future coalitions and post-election alliances being a growing focus of political debate. Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar! party is currently a major opposition force.
