Free Public Transport Offered on Election Day in Israel
Israel's Central Elections Committee has announced that public transportation will be free for all citizens on election day, October 27, 2026. The free service will include intercity bus lines (over 15 km) and Israel Railways. The offer begins at 8:00 PM on Monday, October 26, 2026, and will continue until the end of public transportation services on election day.
Passengers on intercity buses will be able to board freely without needing to identify themselves or present a ticket, provided their route is on the designated list of free lines. Information on these routes can be obtained by calling the Ministry of Transportation's information center at *8787.
Travelers using Israel Railways will receive a special travel ticket from service counters or ticketing machines at stations. Special arrangements are in place for travel to and from Eilat, requiring pre-registration and eligibility checks through Egged's information centers at 2800*.
