Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem Unveils World-Class Tech Upgrades

Jerusalem's Teddy Stadium has undergone significant technological upgrades, including the installation of a hybrid grass field and an advanced ground sensor system, mirroring technology used in the recent World Cup. These improvements, completed by the municipal company Ariel, aim to ensure a high-quality playing surface for the city's football teams.

The hybrid turf combines natural grass with synthetic fibers for enhanced stability and durability, especially during periods of heavy use. The new sensor system, a first in Israel, continuously monitors soil conditions like moisture, temperature, and salinity, allowing maintenance crews to optimize watering and fertilization. This smart maintenance approach is designed to reduce wear and tear on the pitch.

Additional upgrades include advanced portable lighting systems from SGL System to aid grass growth in shaded areas and special heating sheets to combat Jerusalem's cooler climate. The stadium's seating areas have also been renovated with UEFA-compliant seats.

Beyond the pitch, a commercial avenue is being constructed beneath the north stand to create a mixed-use urban space. Furthermore, the new L3 light rail line now connects the Yitzhak Navon train station directly to the sports complex, improving accessibility and reducing traffic congestion.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion stated that the upgrades position Teddy Stadium as a leading sports facility in Israel, comparable to international standards. Uri Menachem, CEO of Ariel, expressed confidence that the enhancements will preserve the pitch's quality and longevity, wishing success to the local teams and fans for the upcoming season.
