Two Arab Israelis Indicted for Shooting at Home, Police

The Nazareth District Court has received an indictment against two young men from the village of Al-Azeir, accusing them of firing at a home and then shooting at police officers who pursued them. The indictment, filed by prosecutor Loay Azzam, alleges the two defendants conspired with a third individual to shoot at a resident's home in Al-Azeir. On August 10, 2026, the three, masked and wearing gloves, arrived at the target house in a vehicle owned by an acquaintance and unleashed a barrage of gunfire, damaging vehicles and the home's entrance. They fled the scene.

Two police officers, who were in a nearby house, heard the shooting and began pursuing the suspects' vehicle. Near the entrance to the village of Rumana Al-Heib, the officers spotted the defendants and others outside the car. The indictment states the defendants then aimed their rifle at the officers and their patrol car, firing heavily. The officers returned fire, and the suspects fled again, abandoning the vehicle near the "Eshkol" site. A search of the car revealed a phone belonging to one defendant and a wallet belonging to the vehicle's owner. The incident caused significant damage to vehicles and the police car.

The charges against the defendants include causing injury with intent, illegal possession and transport of a weapon, firing a weapon under aggravated circumstances, altering a vehicle's identification, intentional damage, and obstruction of justice. The prosecution has requested the defendants be held until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
