Netanyahu Lawyers Seek Former Attorney General Mandelblit Testimony
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's legal team has requested that the Jerusalem District Court summon former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to testify in his ongoing corruption trial. The request was filed by Netanyahu's attorneys, who are seeking to have Mandelblit appear as a witness.
Mandelblit served as Israel's top legal advisor from 2016 until February 2022. During his tenure, he indicted Netanyahu in Case 4000, also known as the Bezeq affair, which is one of the three cases the prime minister is currently facing. The defense aims to question Mandelblit about his decisions and conduct during the investigation and indictment process.
Netanyahu is on trial for charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate cases. He denies all wrongdoing. The prosecution has previously argued against calling Mandelblit as a witness, asserting that his testimony would not be relevant to the core issues of the trial. The court will now consider the defense's request and decide whether to compel Mandelblit's appearance.
