MK Maoz Demands Halt to Cargo Plane Loading on Yom Kippur
Member of Knesset (MK) Avi Maoz, chairman of the Noam party, has called on Transportation Minister Miri Regev to intervene and halt operations for loading cargo planes on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism. The company Maman had informed its employees that the cargo plane loading system would continue to operate during the holiday.
Maoz stated in a letter to Regev that it is unacceptable for employees to be required to work on Yom Kippur to complete operational backlogs. He urged the minister to clarify to relevant parties that workers cannot be compelled to work during the holiday.
"It is inconceivable that in the State of Israel, employees will be required to report to work on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for the Jewish people, to complete operational backlogs," Maoz wrote. He further demanded that the Transportation Minister act immediately to cancel the directive.
