MK Maoz Demands Halt to Yom Kippur Cargo Plane Operations at Ben Gurion Airport

Avi Maoz, chairman of the Noam party and a Member of Knesset, has strongly criticized the decision to continue cargo plane loading operations at Ben Gurion Airport on Yom Kippur. The operations are intended to address accumulated operational delays within the company.

Maoz has appealed to Transportation Minister Miri Regev, urging her immediate intervention to halt the plan and prohibit the mandatory presence of employees for work on the holiest day in Judaism. He emphasized the potential damage to the state's Jewish character and workers' rights, asserting that undue pressure is being placed on employees.

"It is inconceivable that in the State of Israel, employees will be required to report to work on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for the Jewish people, to complete operational delays," Maoz stated in his letter. He described the situation as crossing a red line in a Jewish state, where operational needs are overriding fundamental public values.

Maoz called on the Transportation Minister to act swiftly to cancel the directive from the "Maman" company and to clarify to all relevant parties in the transportation and aviation sectors that no pressure should be exerted, nor should employees be compelled to work during Yom Kippur.
