MK Maoz Demands Transportation Minister Halt Yom Kippur Work
Avi Maoz, chairman of the Noam party and a Knesset member, has urged Transportation Minister Miri Regev to intervene immediately regarding a decision for cargo plane loading crews to work during Yom Kippur. Maoz wrote to Regev that it is unacceptable for employees to be required to work on the holiest day in Judaism to compensate for operational delays.
He demanded that the directive be canceled without delay. "It is inconceivable that in the State of Israel, employees will be required to report to work on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for the Jewish people, to complete operational delays," Maoz stated in his letter.
Maoz also called on the minister to clarify to relevant parties that employees cannot be compelled to work during Yom Kippur.
