Israeli Man Arrested in India With Ammunition
A 24-year-old Israeli man, identified as Yonatan Levy, was arrested on Tuesday at Kangra Airport in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Levy was attempting to board a SpiceJet flight to New Delhi when security personnel discovered a magazine in his luggage during a screening. The Kangra police chief, Kulbhushan Verma, stated that a criminal case has been opened against Levy under India's 1959 Arms Act. During initial questioning, Levy claimed the ammunition was left in his bag from his service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and that he was unaware it was there. Levy was brought before a local court on Wednesday, which ordered his detention extended by two days. Local police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the incident to determine how the ammunition came into his possession.
