Hassidic Rebbes Mark High Holidays with Gatherings and Medical Procedures

Across Israel and in Brooklyn, Hassidic communities celebrated Rosh Hashanah with gatherings led by their Rebbes. The Rebbe of Tolded Abraham Isaac Jacob, who led prayers for thousands of followers in Meah Shearim, concluded the holiday with a special service. In Haifa, the Rebbe of Seret Vizhnitz officiated a "chalaka" ceremony for his great-grandsons, marking their first haircuts, and later danced with them.

Several Rebbes underwent medical procedures around the holiday. The Rebbe of Vizhnitz was successfully treated for a heart condition at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem and was later released. The Rebbe of Modzitz also underwent a cardiac catheterization procedure after being hospitalized on Rosh Hashanah eve.

Other notable events included a meeting between the Rebbes of Vizhnitz and Belz in Jerusalem for holiday blessings. The Rebbe of Ungvar visited his father's grave in Tzfat, while the Vizhnitz community celebrated the engagement of the Rebbe's granddaughter in their new hall.

In a significant development, a compromise agreement was reached between the Gur Hassidic dynasty and the community of Rabbi Shaul Alter, mediated by a court president, to end a protracted dispute. The global center for Rabbi Shaul Alter was also inaugurated in Jerusalem.

In Boro Park, Brooklyn, the Rebbe of Bobov 45 held services for thousands, with special galleries erected for children due to overcrowding. The Satmar Rebbe in Kiryas Joel, New York, appeared in ancient inherited garments, drawing excitement from his followers.
