Haredi Leaders Convene for Rosh Hashanah Services Amidst Health Concerns and Legal Settlements

Across Israel and in diaspora communities, Hasidic leaders and their followers marked the High Holy Days with traditional services and gatherings. In Jerusalem, the foundation stone for a new global center and synagogue for Rabbi Shaul Alter was laid. Meanwhile, thousands of Babov 45 Hasidim gathered in their Brooklyn center, and similar large congregations were reported for Sanz-Klausenburg in Netanya, Vizhnitz in Haifa, and Vizhnitz in Bnei Brak.

Several prominent Hasidic rebbes faced health challenges during the holiday period. The Vizhnitz Rebbe successfully underwent a cardiac procedure at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem, following widespread calls for prayer. The Modzitz Rebbe was hospitalized on the first night of Rosh Hashanah due to heart discomfort but insisted on leading prayers the following morning before undergoing a cardiac catheterization. He is also reportedly in need of continued prayers.

In a significant development, a historic settlement was reached between the Gur Hasidic community and followers of Rabbi Gershon Eidelman, mediated by a court president. The agreement involves the Gur faction taking responsibility and committing to cease harassment, while the plaintiffs drop their financial claims, aiming for a fresh start.

Other observances included the traditional "Hatarat Nedarim" (annulment of vows) ceremonies held by various rebbes in Bnei Brak and elsewhere as the year concluded. In Antwerp, Belgium, thousands of Pshevarsk Hasidim attended Selichot services.
