Israeli Man Sentenced to 13 Years for Espionage for Iran
A resident of Petah Tikva, Alexander Granovsky, has been sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison by the Lod Central District Court for severe offenses against state security. The court found Granovsky guilty of maintaining contact with an Iranian agent and carrying out assignments for them. He fully confessed to all charges brought by the Central District Prosecutor's Office, which included communicating with a foreign agent, transmitting secret information to an enemy, property damage, and arson.
Prosecutors emphasized the gravity of his actions, stating that this sentence is the harshest handed down in a series of cases involving individuals who contacted and worked for Iranian intelligence services via social media. The legal proceedings concluded with a plea agreement after Granovsky admitted to all the alleged deeds.
