Man Sentenced to 13.5 Years for Spying for Iran
The Central District Court in Lod has sentenced Alexander Granovsky of Petah Tikva to 13 and a half years in prison for endangering state security. Granovsky was convicted of maintaining contact with an Iranian agent and carrying out security-related tasks for him.
Granovsky pleaded guilty to all charges brought against him by the Central District Attorney's Office. These included contact with a foreign agent, providing information to an enemy, and multiple offenses of property damage and arson.
The prosecution stated that the sentence imposed is the most severe to date in a series of indictments filed against individuals accused of contacting Iranian agents via social media and acting on their behalf.
