Ariel University Approved for New Six-Year Medical Program
Israel's Council for Higher Education on Wednesday approved the opening of a new six-year medical program at Ariel University. This decision is part of a broader national initiative to expand medical studies across Israel in recent years.
The new program at Ariel University will contribute to a significant increase in medical student enrollment. The total number of medical students in Israel has risen to approximately 1,446 for the current academic year, a notable jump from around 800 students just five years ago.
This expansion also includes the establishment of new medical faculties and programs at Reichman University and the University of Haifa. Previously, in February 2025, the Council for Higher Education had already greenlit new medical programs at the Weizmann Institute and the University of Haifa. The Haifa program is a collaboration with Carmel Hospital, while the Weizmann Institute's program is an MD-PhD track for physician-scientists, partnered with Sheba, Rambam, Ichilov, and Assuta hospitals.
