Singer Moti Steinmetz Releases Holocaust-Themed Yom Kippur Project

Jewish music artist Moti Steinmetz has released a new musical project titled 'From Majdanek to the Kaddish,' timed for the High Holy Days leading up to Yom Kippur. The project centers on a harrowing story from the Holocaust, specifically concerning a stolen slice of bread in the Majdanek concentration camp, which left a lasting impression on a survivor.

This survivor, after his liberation, became a successful businessman known for his strict adherence to ethical financial dealings, reportedly refusing to profit from any ill-gotten gains. The narrative culminates decades later when the survivor and another individual discover the fate of their bunkmate from the camp, leading to an emotional reunion.

Steinmetz performs the vocals, bringing the story to life with his emotive singing. The lyrics and narrative were penned by Yona Sapir, aiming to convey the story's spiritual depth. The musical arrangement and production were handled by Elchanan Nussbaum and Michael Tzi, with advanced AI arrangements by Liron Apote and Lior Lainer, adding a unique visual dimension.

The project's release before Yom Kippur is intentional, connecting the themes of purity and cleansing in the story to the spiritual introspection of the holiday. This release follows a trend of new musical works emerging for the High Holy Days from various artists.
