Off-Duty Officer Apprehends Thief Who Robbed Elderly Man in Haifa
An off-duty police officer apprehended a woman suspected of robbing a 78-year-old man in Haifa's Adar neighborhood on Tuesday evening. The victim was attacked on Al-Halutz Street, with the suspect stealing his mobile phone and wallet before fleeing the scene. The officer, from the Kiryat Ata police station, noticed the fleeing woman and, suspecting a crime, pursued and detained her. During the arrest, the officer sustained a minor injury. The suspect, a 40-year-old resident of Kiryat Bialik, was arrested after questioning and is expected to remain in custody as police seek to extend her detention.
The incident occurred when the elderly man was walking on Al-Halutz Street. The assailant approached him, took his belongings, and fled. The off-duty officer, who happened to be in the area, witnessed the suspect's hasty departure and intervened. He chased the woman down and managed to detain her, preventing her escape.
