Israeli Culture Minister Demands Shin Bet Probe Film's Anonymous Sources

Israeli Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar has requested that Shin Bet Director David Zini investigate the origins of information and documents used by filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor for their film "NAZA." This action follows Zohar's earlier request to the Ministry of Interior and the Population Authority to consider revoking the Israeli citizenship of the two directors.

The film "NAZA" reportedly features anonymous testimonies from individuals claiming to be members of the Israeli military and intelligence services. Zohar expressed concerns that the identity and credibility of these sources cannot be verified, and raised the possibility that some elements may have been "falsified, distorted, or taken out of context."

Zohar has asked the Shin Bet to determine who provided the documents, how they were obtained, and whether security or operational information was used illegally. He also wants to ascertain if enemy organizations, specifically mentioning Hamas, or their intermediaries were involved in transmitting the materials.

"When anonymous sources are used to disseminate serious and false accusations against the State of Israel and the IDF during wartime, it is imperative to determine who is behind them," Zohar stated. The film recently received a standing ovation and the jury prize at the Venice Film Festival.
