Top Rabbis Gather in Bnei Brak for High Holy Days Preparation Event

A significant gathering for the preparation of the High Holy Days took place in Bnei Brak, led by prominent rabbinic figures. The event honored hundreds of "avreichim" (married Torah scholars) from the Ateret Gavriel yeshiva, which was established approximately five years ago and now comprises around 600 students.

Among the esteemed rabbis present were Rabbi Dov Landau, Rabbi Mordechai Hirshel, Rabbi Dov Segal, Rabbi A. Salim, Rabbi Shimon Steinman, and Rabbi Chaim Feinstein, along with other yeshiva deans and Torah leaders. Rabbi Dov Landau emphasized the crucial role of Torah scholars in sustaining the world, stating that the world exists solely due to their study.

He also praised the yeshiva's dean, Rabbi Avraham Yeshayahu Elyakim, for his dedication to the avreichim. Rabbi Mordechai Hirshel urged the scholars to strengthen their Torah studies, highlighting that diligent study without distractions is a superior form of worship, especially in preparation for the Day of Judgment.

Rabbi Dov Segal addressed the significance of strengthening one's commitment during the month of Elul, explaining it as a time to reveal one's true spiritual state. A special letter from Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, a leading halachic authority, was read by his son. The letter advised strengthening the study of Shabbat laws due to the potential for no Shofar blowing on Rosh Hashanah, which falls on a Saturday, and emphasized the importance of observing Shabbat properly.

The event concluded with the distribution of a special calendar for the upcoming Hebrew year 5787 to all the avreichim. The proceedings were enhanced by the musical performance of Yanky Rubin.
