Paul Avery, the actor best known for playing bartender Huggy on the long-running soap opera "All My Children," died this week in a house fire in New Jersey. He was 81. His wife, Sheila, also died in the blaze.
According to reports, police and firefighters were called shortly after midnight on Tuesday to the couple’s home in Blairstown, in northwestern New Jersey. Avery and his wife were trapped inside the burning house. Rescue crews pulled them out, but both were later pronounced dead at the hospital.
"All My Children" aired for 41 years, and Avery was one of its cast members. Over the course of his career, he also appeared in the 1978 Superman film, "Three's Company," and "Tales from the Darkside."
Their daughter, Kyle Avery, paid tribute to her parents, saying, "It is with a heavy heart that I share that our parents, Paul and Sheila, have passed away. We loved them very much, and they loved us very much."
