IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Battalion Commander in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced early Tuesday the elimination of Ahmed Batsch, the commander of Hamas's Jabalia battalion in the northern Gaza Strip. Batsch was targeted overnight in northern Gaza.
According to the IDF, Batsch managed the weaponry for his battalion, advanced terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians, and worked to restore the organization's capabilities while systematically violating ceasefire agreements. The military stated that Batsch was eliminated to remove an immediate threat, and measures were taken during the strike to minimize civilian harm.
Batsch's elimination is part of ongoing efforts by Israel to dismantle Hamas's military infrastructure and leadership following the October 7th attacks.
