Israeli Police Arrest 24 Suspects in Jerusalem, West Bank Arms and Drugs Bust
The Israeli Police announced on Tuesday the conclusion of a six-month undercover operation that led to the arrest of 24 suspects involved in arms trafficking, drug dealing, and distributing counterfeit currency. The majority of those apprehended are from East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
The operation, conducted by the Central Unit in the Jerusalem region, utilized an undercover agent codenamed "Tequila." This agent successfully infiltrated organized crime networks and gained the trust of several suspects, enabling the purchase of weapons, drugs, and fake money.
During the operation, authorities seized 12 handguns, three M-16 rifles, an Uzi submachine gun, significant quantities of ecstasy, and dozens of counterfeit banknotes. Police stated that large forces from the police and military raided the homes of the 24 suspects on the previous night, taking them into custody for questioning after the completion of the undercover phase.
The arrests and seizures are the result of a coordinated effort to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region.
