Israeli Police Arrest Dozens in Nationwide Weapons and Drugs Sting Using Bedouin Undercover Agent
Following a lengthy covert investigation, Israeli police, Border Police fighters, and special units raided dozens of locations across the country in a major operation. The probe, known as the "Nomad" case, was led by the Etgar Unit in collaboration with the undercover operatives division of Lahav 433. The investigation resulted in the arrest of dozens of suspects involved in illegal arms and dangerous drug trafficking.
Central to the case was the deployment of an undercover agent from the Bedouin community, codenamed "Nomad," marking the first time Lahav 433 used a Bedouin informant. Over an extended period, the agent infiltrated criminal networks, gathering evidence against dozens of suspects, including key crime targets. The agent conducted numerous controlled purchases of illegal weapons and drugs, acquiring multiple M16 assault rifles, dozens of handguns, and about half a kilogram of cocaine.
This targeted operation allowed the agent to operate in areas previously considered safe by arms dealers, documenting meetings and agreements to implicate those involved. Once the investigation moved to its overt phase, hundreds of officers raided locations in cities and towns including Rahat, Tel Sheva, Bir al-Saba, Arad, Dimona, Eilat, and neighborhoods in East Jerusalem. Among those arrested were 20 major crime figures.
Police Commissioner Major General Dany Levi emphasized that the case demonstrates there is no place where criminals can feel immune from law enforcement. He praised the professionalism of Lahav 433 and partner units for exposing suspects and preventing arms and drug deals that could have cost lives. Lahav 433 Chief Commissioner Meni Benyamin highlighted the intelligence and operational complexity of the case, noting the significant blow dealt to arms and drug traffickers nationwide.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir commended the police for their proactive and determined approach, stating this operation exemplifies the policy of shifting from defense to offense against crime. He pledged continued support and resources for law enforcement to combat criminal threats effectively.
