Israeli Startup ChikChak Market Transforms Secondhand Ads into Reels
Israeli startup ChikChak Market has launched a new marketplace designed to replace traditional photos in secondhand listings with short video reels. The platform allows users to upload brief videos of items for sale, which are then automatically adapted into marketing content and distributed across social media networks like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. The service is free for private users, with revenue generated from advanced tools and services offered to business advertisers.
The company aims to bridge the gap between the prevalent consumption of short-form video content and the outdated text-based formats still dominating the secondhand market. "We identified a huge dissonance: people consume Reels content for hours daily on Instagram and TikTok, but when they want to sell or buy a secondhand car, apartment, or watch, they are forced to go back in time to archaic text boards from the early 2000s," stated co-founder and CEO Eliran Ahronov. "We took the world's winning visual format and turned it into the most powerful sales engine in the market."
Users upload a video of at least five seconds, and ChikChak Market's system automatically creates marketing content suitable for social media. The platform also generates a dedicated page for each listing, optimized for Google indexing. For business advertisers, videos can be embedded on their company websites. The app, developed over three years by a team including former TikTok and Google employees, is available on Google Play and the App Store.
ChikChak Market was founded by Eliran Ahronov and Reuven Maimon. A soft launch began in mid-August 2026, with the first item listed on August 15. Currently, the platform hosts around 400 listings, with hundreds more expected soon. Over 100 companies in real estate, automotive, and retail have already joined the service. The company's business model focuses on services for commercial users, including dedicated websites, product pages, Google organic promotion, inventory management, and analytics.
The startup's next objective is to launch a beta version in the United States and pursue global funding to accelerate international expansion. "We are not just improving the sales process, but also dramatically shortening the 'shelf life' of properties and products," Ahronov added.
