Israir Cancels All Flights to Morocco Amid Operational Difficulties
Israeli airline Israir, owned by businessman Rami Levy, is set to completely cancel its operations to Morocco, a route it launched just months ago. The dramatic decision stems from complex operational challenges encountered with Moroccan authorities and local entities, according to a report by N12.
This cancellation disrupts Israir's original plans to operate regular flights to Morocco during the upcoming High Holidays (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur). The airline had been actively selling tickets for these flights.
Meanwhile, competitor El Al is moving to fill the void left by Israir's withdrawal. El Al's leisure arm, Sun D'or, announced the resumption of direct flights to Marrakech starting this winter. The first flight is scheduled for November 16, pending regulatory approvals, with two weekly flights planned. Ticket prices will start at $600.
The ongoing competition for the Morocco route indicates that while the skies are turbulent, travel options to Morocco remain available for Israeli passengers seeking alternatives.
