Police Detective Charged with Assault and Falsifying Report
Israel's Police Internal Investigations Department (DIPI) has filed charges against a police detective for unlawful assault and obstruction of justice. A second officer faces charges for obstructing justice.
According to the indictment, in April 2025, the two officers were traveling in a police vehicle with the detective driving. The detective allegedly blocked a civilian vehicle and forced it to stop, believing its occupants had cursed at him. He then allegedly pushed the driver into his seat and punched him in the face.
Following the alleged assault, both officers reportedly filed false reports regarding the incident. The DIPI's investigation led to these charges, aiming to hold officers accountable for misconduct.
