Rehovot Honors Municipal Rescue Unit Volunteers
The Rehovot Municipality held a special appreciation event for approximately 150 volunteers of the Municipal Rescue Unit just before Rosh Hashanah. The volunteers dedicate their time throughout the year to professional training, drills, and emergency preparedness.
The event was organized by the Community Resources Department and the Volunteer Unit within the Social Services Administration, in cooperation with the Security and Emergency Department. It aimed to thank the volunteers for their commitment, professionalism, and readiness to assist the city's residents when needed.
Attendees enjoyed a shared meal, watched a tribute video showcasing the unit's activities, and heard a lecture by Dr. Shai Gelber titled "Laughing, Laughing, But Seriously." Each volunteer received a personal gift as a token of gratitude.
Notable attendees included Dudi Ashkenazi, Deputy CEO of the Municipality; Ofir Mizrahi, Director of the Security and Emergency Department; Colonel (Res.) Moshik Levi, Commander of the Home Front Command's Liaison Unit to Local Authorities; and Harel Eliya, Commander of the Rescue Unit.
Mayor Matan Dila stated, "Rehovot's resilience is based first and foremost on the people who live here and their willingness to be there for each other. The volunteers of the Rescue Unit choose to take on great responsibility and dedicate their time to be ready to help the city's residents in any scenario. Behind this readiness are many hours of investment, perseverance, and commitment, for which they deserve our great appreciation. I thank each and every one of them for their giving and for choosing to be part of the force that strengthens Rehovot in routine and emergency situations."
