Volunteer Firefighter Detained for Alleged Amdocs Server Farm Bomb Plot

Mustafa Issa, a 19-year-old resident of Kafr Qasim, was arrested on suspicion of planning to bomb a server center belonging to the company Amdocs in central Israel. Ynet reported on Tuesday, September 15, that Issa had been performing alternative national service with the Fire and Rescue Services for about a year, working in an operational support role at a station in the Sharon region, not as a firefighter. Investigators allege that several months prior to his arrest, Issa visited the Amdocs server center with the fire department and subsequently conceived a plan to infiltrate the facility and plant an explosive device. Authorities claim Issa studied bomb-making techniques from ISIS online videos and attempted to construct devices himself, discussing his plans with others. The investigation suggests that the events of October 7 and the earlier "Operation Guardian of the Walls" significantly influenced Issa. During his arrest, he was found with training gear and airsoft weapons, which law enforcement states he acquired on the black market, primarily within the Arab sector. Although Issa underwent security checks before starting his service, police had informed the Fire and Rescue Services about an ongoing investigation into him approximately two months before his detention, leading to his suspension. Shin Bet and Central District Police subsequently arrested Issa. The prosecution has informed the Lod Central District Court of its intention to indict him, with charges expected to be filed on Thursday, September 17. A joint statement from the police and Shin Bet emphasized their commitment to combating threats to state security and ensuring severe punishment for those involved.
