US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee sharply criticized France’s foreign minister after he called on Israel to stop its strikes against Hezbollah. Huckabee asked, "Does France get all its information from Hezbollah?" and accused Paris of adopting a one-sided view of the fighting.
He said that four Israeli soldiers were killed last night, underscoring his argument that Israel is responding to attacks rather than initiating them. In his words, "Israel attacks when it is attacked. A ceasefire will be achieved when Hezbollah stops firing and killing."
The remarks came amid continued Israeli strikes against Hezbollah and a diplomatic dispute over how to frame the violence. Huckabee’s comments were aimed at rejecting French pressure on Israel and shifting responsibility for any ceasefire onto Hezbollah’s conduct.
