US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee backed the IDF’s strikes in southern Lebanon on Friday morning, saying Israel acts when it is attacked. In a post on X, he responded to remarks by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, who had said Israel should stop attacking Hezbollah.
Huckabee wrote, “Does France get all its information from Hezbollah?” He added, “Last night, 4 of Israel’s soldiers were killed. Israel attacks when it is attacked. A ceasefire happens when Hezbollah stops firing.”
His comments came as Barrot said France is still working to convene an international conference in support of the Lebanese army. The exchange comes against the backdrop of ongoing cross-border fighting and diplomatic efforts involving France, Israel, Lebanon and Hezbollah.
