Nova Massacre Victim's Mother Charged for Deceased Daughter's Insurance
The mother of Libi Cohen-Meguri, who was murdered at the Nova music festival on October 7th, has revealed that the insurance company Migdal continued to charge her for her deceased daughter's long-term care insurance. Libi's mother, Shelly Meshel-Yogev, shared on Instagram and in an interview with Kan News that Migdal debited 100 shekels monthly for Libi's insurance since the massacre.
"They are collecting long-term care insurance from a girl who has been dead for three years," stated Meshel-Yogev. She explained that she had asked her insurance agent for the third time to cancel all policies associated with Libi's ID number, only to discover the ongoing charges. Migdal has stated they will refund the family retroactively, but this has not yet occurred after several weeks, or possibly months.
Meshel-Yogev further accused Migdal of creating obstacles, claiming they refused to accept an account management authorization because it was not in PDF format. She questioned the company's actions, asking, "You understood your mistake, you will transfer the money, return it, the girl is dead. You are wrong and also creating difficulties? Aren't you ashamed?"
Speaking to Kan News, the bereaved mother expressed deep sadness over what she perceives as a decline in the country's basic values. "It is difficult to miss a child who is no longer here and alongside that to live with frustration about where we live and what is happening to us, we do not count the bereavement, do not respect it, do not take responsibility for it, do not investigate it and then shuffle it around. It is burdensome and saddening."
