Kinneret Water Level Drops Significantly Over Rosh Hashanah Holiday
The water level of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) has dropped by nearly 5 centimeters over the Rosh Hashanah holiday weekend due to persistent hot weather. This decline continues a downward trend for the lake, exacerbated by the high temperatures experienced during the holiday period.
According to the latest data, the water level fell by 4.5 centimeters and currently stands at 213.455 meters below sea level. This places the Kinneret's water level 4.655 meters below the upper "red line" of 208.80 meters below sea level.
Furthermore, the lake is now only 45.5 centimeters above the lower "red line," which is set at 213 meters below sea level. The holiday, which fell in early September, was marked by unusually hot conditions, contributing to the accelerated evaporation and subsequent drop in water levels.
