Court Considers House Arrest for Mother of Murder Suspect

A Jerusalem court is considering releasing Linor Shoshon, mother of the main suspect in the murder of Benayahu Razi, to house arrest. Shoshon, who has a prior criminal record including fraud, threats, and extortion, was recently released from prison. Her husband is also a convicted felon who previously escaped from prison and shot at police officers.

The prosecution argued against her release, citing her criminal past and the possibility she could continue to orchestrate crimes from afar. The victim's friend, who was present during the murder, echoed these concerns, stating that Shoshon has a history of betraying trust and that her past suggests she can influence others even remotely. He urged the court to keep her in custody to prevent further obstruction of justice.

During the court hearing, a heated exchange occurred between Razi's mother and the family of another suspect, Shilat Huta. Razi's mother recounted being told to "shut your mouth" by Huta's family, who also threatened legal action. She expressed her grief and determination to be her son's voice, criticizing the suspect's families for their behavior and perceived lack of remorse.

According to the indictment, the murder stemmed from an argument that escalated after Razi and another individual, Matanya, joined two women, Agam Tzurfi and Shilat Huta, at a rented apartment. After an alleged dispute, the women went to Linor Shoshon's apartment, where, investigators claim, they armed themselves with weapons. Tzurfi reportedly admitted that one person struck Razi with a hammer while another hit both Razi and Matanya with an iron bar. Investigators also revealed that Tzurfi allegedly told an investigator during her detention that if she weren't arrested, she would have planned the next murder.

Investigators further stated that Linor Shoshon allegedly drove her son away after the murder, attempted to obstruct the investigation, and instructed others involved to flee Jerusalem. Tzurfi, who reportedly watched the attack on Razi and Matanya via live video and even smiled at times, is accused of knowing Razi was dead and showing no remorse.
