Kosovo Football Team in Crisis as Captain and Five Players Resign

The Kosovo national football team is facing a significant crisis ahead of upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, including a game against Israel. Captain Amir Rrahmani, a prominent player for Napoli, announced his resignation from the national team, stating he will not play as long as the current leadership of the Football Federation of Kosovo remains in place.

Rrahmani, who has served as captain for seven of his ten years with the team, posted a strong message on Instagram criticizing the federation's management. He cited "countless objections and a lack of qualified people" to address player concerns, leading to years of stagnation. He also accused federation officials of launching "relentless and coordinated attacks" against him for over two years, emphasizing his decision was made to preserve his integrity and personal values.

Reports indicate Rrahmani is not alone in his protest. At least five other key players have reportedly informed the federation that they are unwilling to represent Kosovo under the current presidency of Agim Ademi. These players include Edon Zhegrova, Florent Muslija, Arijanet Muric, Milot Rashica, and Vedat Muriqi. Their collective withdrawal casts serious doubt on Kosovo's ability to field a competitive squad for their upcoming fixtures.
