Tamira Yardeni Cedes Control of Teddy Productions After 50 Years

After more than five decades as a dominant force in Israeli entertainment and television, Tamira Yardeni is transferring control of Teddy Productions, the company she co-founded with her husband Dudu Yardeni in 1973. The controlling stake in the company, valued at approximately 50 million shekels, has been transferred to Yoav Tzafir.

Teddy Productions, which began as an artist management and production firm, evolved into one of Israel's leading production houses, responsible for numerous hit shows and series. These include "Kokhav Nolad" (A Star is Born), "HaKokhav HaBa" (The Next Star), "Dancing with the Stars," "HaShir Shelanu" (Our Song), "HaShminiya" (The Eighth), "Shמש" (Sun), and "Sabri Maranan."

This transfer of control follows a period of negotiation for other potential deals. In May, reports emerged that Teddy Productions was in talks with SIPUR, a company led by producer and businessman Emilio Shnitzer and Gideon Tadmor. However, significant gaps between the parties led to the deal's collapse by the end of June. Yardeni and Tzafir informed Teddy employees that they had decided not to finalize the SIPUR deal, leaving the company in their hands for the time being, though they remained open to future offers.

Shortly after the SIPUR deal fell through, Pnina Adari and NMC were reported to be in advanced negotiations to acquire control of Teddy Productions as part of NMC's expansion into the Israeli content and entertainment market. The sale of Teddy Productions marks a significant shift for one of the production companies most identified with the era of commercial television in Israel and signifies a new chapter for Yardeni, who has been central to the local entertainment industry for over fifty years.
