Bereaved Father Receives Apology After Politicized Remarks Spark Outrage

Talik Guili, the mother of Ran Guili, who was killed on October 7th fighting Hamas terrorists, has apologized to Rubi Chen, the father of Sergeant Major Itai Chen, after her controversial remarks caused significant pain.

Guili had recently stated in a video for the Likud party that if the "other camp" wins, the memory of heroes would be erased. This statement drew sharp criticism from many bereaved families, especially as Guili is slated to be placed on the Likud's list for the upcoming elections.

Former Science and Technology Minister Yizhar Shai, father of Sergeant Major Yaron Uri Shai who fell on October 7th, strongly condemned Guili's words, stating that heroes fall defending the nation, not a specific political camp. He emphasized that his son, like Guili's son, fought for all Israelis.

Rubi Chen, father of Sergeant Major Itai Chen, who was abducted on October 7th and whose body was returned after 760 days, had previously appealed to Prime Minister Netanyahu, questioning his divisive rhetoric. Chen shared on Sunday that Guili reached out to him with an apology after understanding the pain her words had caused.

Chen's son, Itai, was a Golani Brigade soldier who was abducted during the October 7th battles.
