Israeli Judokas Raz Hershko and Yoav Shani Aim for Medals at Budapest Grand Slam

Israeli judokas Raz Hershko and Yoav Shani are set to secure additional medals for Israel at the Budapest Grand Slam on the final day of the competition. Hershko, competing in the women's 78kg+ category, has advanced to the final and will fight for the gold medal. Shani, in the men's 100kg category, will compete for a bronze medal.

Hershko began her tournament in the second round, defeating her Angolan opponent with a waza-ari and an ippon. In the quarterfinals, she overcame Australia's Sydney Andrews with two waza-aris. She secured her spot in the final by defeating Estonia's Kertu Alneva in the semifinals, who received three penalties within the first 2:30 minutes of the match.

Shani also started in the second round, winning by ippon against Hungary's Gabor Harsagi. He then defeated his Polish opponent in the round of 16 with a yuko, waza-ari, and ippon. Shani lost in the quarterfinals to Russia's Nemanja Majdov after receiving three penalties, sending him to the repechage bracket. In his first repechage match, he defeated Romania's Alex Creț before advancing to the bronze medal match.
