17 Israeli Judokas Compete in Budapest Grand Slam
Seventeen Israeli judokas are set to compete in the Budapest Grand Slam in Hungary, which began Friday. The tournament serves as the final preparation for the World Championships scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in three weeks.
A total of 504 judokas from 67 countries are participating in the event. The Israeli contingent will open the competition with athletes in the lighter weight classes. Competing on the first day for Israel are Tom Shmikhay, Yonatan Wexler, Yitzhak Ashpiz, Matan Kokuliev, Inbal Shemesh, Ilei Chon, Timna Nelson Levy, and Geffen Primo.
The full list of Israeli competitors includes Ilei Chon and Geffen Primo (up to 52 kg), Timna Nelson Levy and Inbal Shemesh (up to 57 kg), Yitzhak Ashpiz and Yonatan Wexler (up to 60 kg), Caram Primo (up to 63 kg), Matan Kokuliev and Tom Shmikhay (up to 66 kg), Maya Goshen and Adlina Novitzki (up to 70 kg), Ohad Morritz and Yehonatan Elbaz (up to 73 kg), Raz Hershko (over 78 kg), Itay Bibeitko (up to 81 kg), Roy Sivan (up to 90 kg), and Yosif Semenov (up to 100 kg).
