Israeli Judoka Raz Hershko Wins Bronze at Lima Grand Prix
Israeli judoka Raz Hershko secured a bronze medal in the over 78 kg category at the Grand Prix tournament held in Lima, Peru, on Sunday. Hershko began the competition strongly, winning her quarterfinal match by ippon against Brazilian Taowana Silva. In the semifinals, she faced another Brazilian, Tokyo Olympic champion Beatriz Souza, but lost the bout. Hershko then competed for the bronze medal against Colombian Brigith Carabali and quickly achieved an ippon victory within a minute and a half, clinching the podium spot.
Hershko's coach, Shani Hershko, highlighted the significance of the medal after two competitions without podium finishes, emphasizing the importance of every medal during this period. After her victory, Raz Hershko expressed gratitude to her coaches Shani Hershko and Charles Cibana, the Israeli Judo Association led by Moshe Ponti, and dedicated her medal to the memory of Yonatan Gotin, his family, and all IDF soldiers and the State of Israel.
