Israeli Judoka Raz Hershko Wins Bronze at Lima Grand Prix
The Lima Grand Prix judo competition concluded overnight with the heavyweight categories, featuring Israeli judoka Raz Hershko in the over 78 kg division. Hershko, ranked number one globally, started her campaign in the quarterfinals where she swiftly defeated Brazilian Silva by pinning her in under 30 seconds. In the semifinals, Hershko faced Beatriz Souza, who had previously beaten her for the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Souza managed to pin Hershko twice during their match, securing her victory and advancing to win the gold medal in Lima.
Hershko then competed for the bronze medal against Colombian judoka Carabali, the 2023 Pan American Games silver medalist. Hershko won a close match by pinning Carabali after just 90 seconds, earning the bronze medal. Souza claimed the gold medal in the tournament. Later this month, Hershko is scheduled to face Souza again in an exhibition match.
