Dozens of Firefighters Battle Major Tire Blaze in Yarka; Cause Under Investigation

Dozens of firefighters and rescue teams continue to battle a large fire that erupted at a tire complex behind the "Big Fashion" mall in Yarka, with thick smoke still blanketing the area. Over 17 firefighting crews have been engaged in extinguishing efforts since yesterday, working in cooperation with the local council and other entities, according to Kaid Zahir, spokesperson for the Arab media in the Fire and Rescue Authority. Zahir explained that the nature of the burning materials, specifically large quantities of tires, made the operation difficult and caused the spread of dense, toxic smoke over wide areas, reaching nearby villages like Julis and Abu Snan. A command center remains active at the site, with crews working from multiple fronts to control the fire and prevent its spread, prioritizing its complete extinguishment and halting smoke emission. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by a specialized investigator from the Fire and Rescue Authority, with findings to be passed to the police. All possibilities, including intentional or unintentional ignition, are being examined. Zahir emphasized that the immediate priority is to fully extinguish the fire and stop the smoke, especially given the proximity of schools and children. He planned to visit the site to monitor developments and affirmed that teams will remain until the fire is completely under control.
