Direct Flights to New York Launch, Promising Cheaper Fares Post-Holidays

Within two days, five airlines, including three Israeli carriers, will operate direct flights from Ben Gurion Airport to New York. While current prices remain high due to peak holiday demand, travelers flying after the Jewish holidays are expected to find options for under $1,000. Israir is scheduled to launch its inaugural flight to New York on September 15th, becoming the fifth airline and third Israeli company on the route. Initially, prices are not anticipated to drop significantly because of high demand during the holidays. However, to mark the new route's launch, ISTA is offering a $100 discount for bookings made by September 14th, bringing round-trip flights in late September down to $1,499. Prices are projected to decrease substantially after the holidays, particularly in January and February, which are colder months but offer lower fares. From March to May, the weather improves, and some dates may still feature flights below $1,000. The return of major American carriers alongside new Israeli airlines is seen as a significant development, increasing competition and passenger options. Experts recommend booking upcoming trips to New York and the US now to take advantage of attractive prices, noting that flights under $1,000 are already available for flexible travelers. Examples of round-trip flights under $1,000 in early 2027 include Delta Air Lines flights in January for $878, and flights in February/March and March for $773, with El Al also offering a $773 flight in March.
