Direct Flights to New York Drop Below $800 Amid Renewed Competition
Following a period of reduced flight options and high prices to New York, the air travel market is experiencing a significant shift. The return of major American carriers Delta Air Lines and United Airlines to Israel, alongside Israeli airlines Israir and Arkia offering their own routes to New York, has dramatically increased seat availability. This surge in competition is happening just as many Israelis begin planning their upcoming vacations.
A review by the travel company Gulliver indicates that direct flights to New York can now be found for under $1,000 per person on select dates. The period between February and May is highlighted as particularly favorable for finding attractive prices. While January and February offer lower fares due to colder weather, March through May presents more pleasant conditions for visiting the city, with some flights still available below the $1,000 threshold.
Tamar Gershon, CEO of Gulliver, stated that the re-entry of American airlines, coupled with the expansion of Israeli carriers on the route, marks a substantial development. She noted that the previous limited supply had directly impacted prices and passenger choices. With increased competition from new airlines, routes, and seats, Gershon advises booking upcoming trips to New York and the U.S. now to capitalize on these more affordable fares.
Examples of current deals include a Delta Air Lines flight from January 10-15, 2027, for $878, and a February 25-March 3, 2027, flight on Delta for $773. El Al also offers a March 8-16, 2027, flight for $773.
