Karem Primo to Fight for Bronze at Budapest Grand Slam Judo
Israeli judoka Karem Primo (63 kg) will compete for the bronze medal at the Budapest Grand Slam tournament on Saturday. Primo secured her spot in the bronze medal match after defeating Natalia Krupska of Poland in the repechage round. She had previously lost in the quarterfinals to Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia, who advanced via a yuko score, sending Primo to the repechage.
Primo began her day with a victory over Noaester of South Africa by ippon. In the second round, she defeated Judoka from the Czech Republic, with the match going to golden score. Primo advanced after her opponent received a third penalty.
In other Israeli results, Ohad Mor (73 kg) reached the quarterfinals before losing to Mammadaliyeve of Azerbaijan. He was then eliminated from the repechage by Demirrel of Turkey. Other Israeli competitors, including Itay Biton (81 kg), Yonathan Elbaz (73 kg), Maya Gushan (70 kg), and Adelina Novitsky (70 kg), were eliminated earlier in the competition.
This follows a gold medal win by Yizhak Azani in the under-60 kg category on Friday.
