Israeli Forces Raid West Bank, Injuring Elderly Man and Child, Detaining 8 Palestinians

Israeli forces conducted raids across the West Bank, resulting in injuries to an elderly man and a child and the detention of at least eight Palestinians. In the village of Marqa, south of Jenin, a 68-year-old man sustained back and chest bruises, and a 14-year-old boy suffered a broken right hand during an Israeli military incursion. Both were taken to a local emergency center in the nearby town of Araba for treatment. The circumstances of their injuries were not specified.

In the Jenin governorate, Israeli forces arrested six Palestinians during raids on several towns and homes, including those belonging to released prisoners. The military also raided the town of Tamun, south of Tubas, detaining two brothers after searching their family home. Further incursions occurred in the Al-Amari and Qaddura refugee camps and the city of Al-Bireh in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, as well as Qalandia camp and the town of Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem. Raids were also reported in the towns of Taqou, Al-Obeidiya, Dar Salah, Al-Shawaweh, and Za'atara in the Bethlehem Governorate, with no reported arrests or injuries in these specific areas.

Concurrently, settlers attacked the outskirts of the town of Burqa, east of Ramallah, throwing stones at Palestinian homes and vehicles, causing damage to one car. These events follow a general increase in raids, arrests, and assaults in the West Bank. According to the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, Israeli forces have arrested over 100 Palestinians in the past week, bringing the total number of detainees from the West Bank since October 2023 to over 25,000, in addition to thousands arrested from Gaza.

Official Palestinian data indicates that 628 settler attacks occurred in August. In June, 14 UN special rapporteurs warned that the escalating settler violence, allegedly with Israeli authorities' support or complicity, poses an existential threat to Palestinians.
